Summer

Dilwara Jain Temples
One amazing place to visit in Mount Abu is the Dilwara Jain Temples. It is a popular pilgrimage place and its breathtakingly amazing architecture is what put it on the map! It has a long history because the Jain religion is several centuries old. Its architecture and history make it great for photo ops!
Admission is free and the temples are open every day of the week from noon until 5 P.M. It takes no more than 2 hours to tour and photograph the temples. It is within walking distance of Mount Abu, located two and a half kilometers away. These temples were built between 1,000 and eight hundred years ago. The Dilwara Jain Temples are constructed out of gleaming white marble and are full of intricately carved designs and drawings that look grand! It was designed using brilliant and flawless engineering and stone-laying techniques.
Being temples that celebrate Jainism, the complex is comprised of five temples: Vimal Vasahi, Luna Vasahi, Pithalhar, Parshvanath, and Mahavir Swami. These temples represent the uniqueness of Jain culture and are only found amongst the Jains. The temple carvings and drawings represent scenes from Jain and Hindu mythology and are a work of art, as are its ceiling carvings which are in the shape of a lotus.

Achalgarh
Achalgarh is one of the most awe-inspiring places to visit in Mount Abu largely because of its rich history. It also has great ruins and amazing viewpoints. Admission is free and the fort is open every day of the week from 5 A.M. to 7 P.M. Expect tours of Achalgarh to last 45 minutes.
The Paramara Dynasty rulers built this fort which once protected an ancient kingdom in the 13th and 14th centuries A.D. Achalgarh was reconstructed in 1452 by the then ruler of the Mewar Kingdom, Maharana Kumbha. He gave the fort is the current name which means ‘immovable’ in Rajasthani. The fort may have been a great place to visit in the previous centuries, but it is largely in ruins today. Still, tourists love the many great remnants which are a reminder of its deep and turbulent history.
When you enter Achalgarh, you will be greeted by twin, gray granite towers. If you tour the fort walls, you will be treated to a panoramic view of the fort and surrounding areas.
Since Achalgarh is located on a mountain, it’s the perfect place for hiking. If hiking doesn’t impress you, do some sightseeing or souvenir shopping. Finally, you can tour the neighboring Achaleshwar Mahadev Temple.
